Trouble with hotmail and Entourage ...Error: "The end of file was reached."

I am having trouble with my hotmail and Entourage. I have been using it
for over a year on several MACs. A day or so ago I got the error screen
detailed below. I could not resolve the problem, so I deleated the
hotmail account from Entourage and reinstalled it fresh. This worked
fine for a day when it just happened again. Is anyone else experiencing
this situation? Does anyone know a fix?

Warm Regards,
Robby

Error screen listed below:

Is Hotmail still *supposed* to work? I thought they announced they were
phasing out POP access for free accounts as of April 2005.

I think that's true...but I don't have a free account. I pay for the
enhanced account and have the same problem.
Anyone know what's going on???

Yes. Hotmail is supposed to work if you've paid for the service, which I
have. I've been using Entourage for a while now, and now I'm having the same
problem.

I have the paid hotmail service too. I deleated the account on
entourage last night and reinstalled it, it is working again. I have
done this twice now. I paid for the hotmail address because I have had
it for over 10 years and wanted to keep the same address... back when
you could have a 4 digit password. hehe...!

hey gang,

It is May 21 at 11:30pm and I just got the same error again. Microsoft
wants $35 to talk to them about it. Let me know if you find out
anything.

This message has appeared and disappeared apparently at random on my
computers for about a week.

BTW, the "-50" error message seems to be associated with commercial messages
of some sort. When I went into my Hotmail via my browser and got rid of some
messages, that error disappeared when updating of my Entourage inbox, but
now appears when updating the deleted messages folder.

I do think that the big silence we are getting from Microsoft is, um,
interesting. This has been on the newsgroup for what, several weeks?

I check for updates from both Apple and Microsoft every day.

I have been having the same exact problem.

I get that message, "end of file reached," and if I create a new
Hotmail account in Entourage, it only works well for about a day.

I moved the Microsoft folder out of my Preferences folder, but I’m not
really sure if it did anything.

I don’t have a paid Hotmail account but Hotmail sent me an e-mail a
while ago saying that I would be grandfathered in since my Hotmail
account is really old.

This is so frustrating, I love using Entourage for e-mail and not
having to get on the web and check it through the annoying Hotmail
interface.

I had the same problem - it works again after quitting entourage and
putting "Entourage Preferences" from the
user/library/preferences/microsoft folder into the trash

Hope that helps
