Trying to open the Word 2003 document, but it do not open

Trying to open the word document that is created using the Microsoft Word
2003, it displays the pop up window displaying the message along with 3
options:
Select the encoding that makes your document readable.
Text Encoding :
Windows MS-DOS Other Encoding.

I am unable to open the document. Can any one of you tell me how to open the
document.
