Wireless Internet Service claims MS installing Blaster Worm

I live in Paraguay. Today, after years of Internet
connection through a modem connection, and with my anti-
virus and firewall absolutely up to date, I switched to a
wireless antenna service: Telesurf. While the techs were
still working on the install, the computer developed
problems and shut down repeatedly- The MS error report
led to a warning of infection by Blaster Worm. The techs
claimed that the MS automatic update contaminated the
machine. I convinced them that wasn't possible, since I
had been connected through a different (modem) service,
and updated only 1/2 hour before their install without
being infected; they then told me it is Telesurf's
position that MS is doing this, and that Blaster and
Welchia seem to infect every machine on which they
install Telesurf service.
This is the first time after about 10 years on the net
that I've ever had a worm or virus on my machine, and I'm
fighting mad, but I know it isn't MS doing this, and
downloading the latest patches from MS seems to have
fixed the problem- but somebody better tell Telesurf to
stop throwing Microsoft's good name around like that- and
while they're at it- to stop installing worms.
By the way, I am exposing myself to possible reprisals
for "outing" them, especially since I paid for a year of
service in advance.

The fact that you admit that the problem seemed to clear once you downloaded
the
latest patches means you getting the Blaster Worm is not only your fault,
but also Telesurf. Yours for not keeping abreast of all the security patches
and theirs for also probably not realizing that there servers may be still
infected. There are specific actions that must be taken otherwise, the
Blaster Worm will not be cleared from the machine and any reboots will
re-infect the system.

You also may want to see what specific steps need to be taken, so that you
don't re-infect yourself and pass this info onto Telesurf.
