Word 2002 within Office XP

When I try to open a Word file on a floppy the drive
keeps chattering and I have to end the program. In my
event viewer I get a Hanging application WINWORD.EXE,
version 10.0.5815., hang module hungapp, version 0.0.0.0,
0x00000000. hang address. Application Hang catagory 101
event 1002.

Anyone please help with fix.

Hi, Denny,

It's just as well that Word won't open your file from a floppy. If you
could open it, the probable result would be a corrupted document and
data loss. Never try to open a Word document directly from a floppy --
instead, copy it to the hard drive and work on it from there. After
you close Word, copy the file back to the floppy for transport or
backup -- again, don't save directly to the floppy from Word.
