Word 2003: Compressing pictures obscures copied picture crops

Compressing pictures/images in a document with "Compress pictures -> All
pictures in the document" selection causes all cropped picture copies to be
cropped with same borders. For example, I may have imported a photo, and then
copy-pasted it twice to the same document. Now, I crop each picture
differently to display different details of the photo. Compressing forces all
the crop limits as in the first picture.

I believe I do not have Office 2003 service pack installed, but as it seems
this problem is not mentioned in the release notes anyway.

Hi Andy,

I wasn't able to reproduce this in Word 2003 with Service Pack 1.

What are the steps you're using to insert the pictures?

If you use Format=>Picture=>Layout are these pictures what
text wrapping layout is in effect?
