Word keeps crashing on startup.

Every time i startup word 2007 it crashes.
Word comes with a safemode option -> crashes
Word comes with repair, all goes well->reboot->start word->crash

I've reinstalled the entire machine and now after installing some updates it
goes into the same routine again!

I've tried to uninstall the updates, deleting regkeys as suggested on some
forums.

Really bothering. The evenlog gives me this:

Faulting application WINWORD.EXE, version 12.0.6331.5000, time stamp
0x48fa27b4, faulting module ntdll.dll, version 6.0.6001.18000, time stamp
0x4791a7a6, exception code 0xc0000374, fault offset 0x000b015d, process id
0xc10, application start time 0x01c991b0a6dab3aa.

Can't find this specific crash anywhere.

This didn't work, I've renamed all .dotx files and deleted the data registry
key.

Note that there are also other suggestions in the article.

Also, which files did you rename, exactly? Renaming is really only useful
with normal.dotm.

I've removed office several times now. After shutdown I've deleted every file
I could find that could cause any problems.
Program Files\Microsoft Office
AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Office
AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Templates (contained Normal.dotm)

Reinstalling still doesn't work.

Installed SP1 and the updates that come after it.

Still the same crashes.

This is driving me crazy!

I'm glad you got it sorted.

Note that Word may crash if it cannot find the printer driver; therefore, it
is best to have a printer driver installed locally (see
http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/AppErrors/ProblemsStartingWord.htm#Printer_Problems).

Also, as you have seen, reinstalling rarely fixes issues with Word.

Have you locally installed a compatible printer driver and set as the
Windows Default?
