¿Different "max units" for different projects not possible?

Hi,

It is usual that organizations distribute the capacity of their resources
between several proyects. So a resource should be assigned with "max
units"=30% to project1, "max units"=20% to project2 and "max units"=50% to
project3. This feature is not supported in PS2007. Is there any way to
implement it?

cperis,

That is not possible. As you know, the Max units of a resource is defined by
the administrator in the Enterprise Resource Pool. It may change during time
but it is always the same in every projet. So each Project Manager has to be
careful : not to exeed the max units allowed for his/her project.
To check that he/she complies with this usage resource limitation, the
Project Manager can temporarily turn off the resource sharing while loading
Project Pro 2007 : clear the check box Load Summary Resources Assignments.
So that in a view such as the resource graph, the Project Manager can check
the resource units used in his/her project.
Hope this helps,

This is easy to accomplish, however you need to perform a little manual
intervention before starting to make assignments in a work session. Instruct
your PMs to open their project, apply the resource sheet view, and set the
MAX units to the value they desire. The system will warn you that these
edits will not be saved, however the new MAX units value will remain in
place for that session. The PMs can now assign the resource to tasks without
minding the MAX UNITS value. When the close and reopen the project, the MAX
units will revert to the value set in the Resource Pool.

Hi Gary.

Thaks for your answer.
I knew about this "trick", but the problem is thay our customer says this is
not an operative solution and if they do not become a better solution, they
will not implant Projet Server, as they consider this feature as crucial for
them.

Does changing "Assignment Units" per resource-per project accomplish this
rather than "Max Units" for a resoruce?
