0x0000005 error

"The application failed to initialize properly
(0x0000005). Click on OK to terminate the application."
after numerous uninstall/reinstall attempts of office
2000 pro on win xp pro, i get this error every time i try
to run word, excel, frontpage, or powerpoint. any help
or direction would be most useful.
