I get that message quite often. While my friend with exact same settings and ISP but he uses outlook 2000. Its not the mail servers fault, it works perfectly i have made sure of that

Only thing i can think of causing it is the Norton Antivirus 2004. But there are virtually no settings in it to modify that can be of any effect to the mail-recieving connection from Outlook....Any ideas?

Try turning off incoming mail scanning in Norton A/V and see if you can
connect.
