0x800CCC92 Error

I have all of a sudden started to receive an error 0x800CCC92 trying to
receive email from a POP3 account. I had been receiving email fine before
and only started having problems after an automatic Vista update on 6-10-08.

Please note the following:

- I can send out to the POP3 with the same password and username so that is
not the problem
- I have checked and rechecked with the POP3 account vendor that the server
and port is correct (Plus I was receiving emails just fine before)
- I have disabled firewalls and anti-virus (I use Norton) and still receive
the error
- I have recreated the account with the right information and still receive
the error

I have to believe that this has to do with the latest updates. Does anyone
have a solution for this?

I have all of a sudden

"all of sudden" means something changed. You installed software, an
update, a patch, an automatic update to Windows or to your anti-virus
software, or some software that is active on your host, you changed some
configuration. Something change to cause the change in behavior. What
did you do recently to your host?

That is not the COMPLETE error message. Don't summarize an error
message. Don't truncate, paraphrase, or describe an error message.

See, you DID change something on your host. Have you tried uninstalling
the update? Have you tried using System Restore?

Updates are identified by unique IDs. A date doesn't identify which one
you got. WHAT updates were they?

You are not sending out to a POP3 mail host. You are *receiving* or
downloading from a POP3 mail host. POP3 is for receiving e-mails. You
will need to specify an SMTP mail host to *send* e-mails.
- I have checked and rechecked with the POP3 account vendor that the server
and port is correct (Plus I was receiving emails just fine before)

Checked with vendor. So does that mean you called them or read their
web help pages? What port? What was the server's hostname?

No one here yet knows what "the error" is because you only provided a
fragment of it.
- I have recreated the account with the right information and still receive
the error

Uninstall the updates.
System Restore.
Provide the actual and complete error message in your request for help.
Specify WHICH version of Outlook that you use.
Say WHO is your e-mail provider.

You can narrow the search by including the KB article number or the
document ID (MSxx-xxx) for the updates just applied to your host.
