1,000th person to ask about drop down menu's - Layers

M

Mel

I apologize for being about the one thousandth person asking how to create
dhtml drop down menu's via layers. As many of you have experienced, FP2003
showed this as a feature in their advertising the product, only for us to
have the good old "Bait & Switch" pulled on us again.

There have been quite a number of links posted in this forum with
instructionals on how to do it. However, I just clicked six of the links and
none of them worked "page cannot be displayed" crap, and I am fed up with
looking.

Please... could one of the moderators be kind enough to assist, with at
least a functional link. Thousands are fed-up with pulling teeth for
something that should be so basic.

Thank you,
Mel

There are no moderator in this newsgroup, this is a peer-to-peer newsgroup.

How is it a bait and switch, when FP2003 can be used to create DHTML menu?

Which links have you tried?

I've not had this experience

Ahh, yeah. The good old Bait & Switch. I fall for it every time.
instructionals
Oh yay! A new word.
and I am fed up with looking.
Crap! And you were so close.
Thousands are fed-up
Whoa, THOUSANDS???? !!! Could you provide a partial list of these teeming
masses, yearning to make menues?
something that should be so basic.
If it's so "basic", why can't you do it?

PS - Kudos on the approach you've used to get help.

Hi, Mel~

If you are looking for a drop-down menu add-in, then take a look at the
SoThink DHTML menu at www.sothink.com - if you're talking about a
javascripted pull-down, then you may want to check out J-Bots.

Hope that helps, and sorry for earlier sarcasm,
Teri
:)

Teri,
Mel asked for it!

Isn't it just a little interesting that the nntp posting host for Mel is:

X-Newsreader: Microsoft CDO for Windows 2000
Content-Class: urn:content-classes:message
Importance: normal
Priority: normal
X-MimeOLE: Produced By Microsoft MimeOLE V6.00.3790.0
Newsgroups: microsoft.public.frontpage.client
NNTP-Posting-Host: TK2MSFTNGXA03.phx.gbl 10.40.1.29
Path: TK2MSFTNGP08.phx.gbl!TK2MSFTNGXA03.phx.gbl

and for Teri it is:

X-Newsreader: Microsoft CDO for Windows 2000
Content-Class: urn:content-classes:message
Importance: normal
Priority: normal
X-MimeOLE: Produced By Microsoft MimeOLE V6.00.3790.0

Path: TK2MSFTNGP08.phx.gbl!TK2MSFTNGXA03.phx.gbl

Maybe my computer is a tad messed up.
Do I have a virus maybe??

;-)

not.

The thing that's really interesting is that the IP 10.40.1.29 is reserved IP used for "Internal"
network purposes.
as are all IP's that begin with 10

Hi, Steve~

I was wondering what you meant earlier. Yes, I think you have a virus or
something. I am trying to help out here, having been in the FrontPage arena
since 1999 (probably a rookie to you). My IP is Comcast Chattanooga, I
checked the right-click you said earlier. I have no clue what you are
seeing, but there is definitely a problem with what you are viewing.

It most likely has to do with how MS have the web version configured, since the same info appears
for all post coming from the Web version.

Also, Steve~

You've offended me and I believe you owe me an apology. When you
right-click on each of the messages, Mel's and Mine, and then select
properties, you will see that the originating IP for Mel is:

X-WBNR-Posting-Host: 216.38.155.75

and the originating IP for me is:

X-WBNR-Posting-Host: 68.59.245.165

I have no idea who Mel or you or any of these others are, but you have
jumped to an improper and inappropriate and wrong conclusion here, and it is
not appreciated.

Well, my machine scans clean with AVG, Spybot Search and Destroy and also AdAware.
Flushed the DNS cache and the IE tif and history and rebooted.

Guess I'll touch base with the MSFT nntp server admin on Monday and see if I can figure what's going
on.
