11.3.3 update causes Problems

I have autoupdates turned on, and this is the first update that has
caused problems for me. I've figured out that post-update (which has
been applied 3 times), if Entourage is running, I can not launch Word,
Excel, or Powerpoint. I get an error telling me that it cannot load
the Shared Libraries. If Entourage is not running, everything starts
fine. I can then start Entourage. This is extremely inconvenient, as
I use Entourage for my work email. What's the workaround for this? Is
there a known issue with the updated? I am running MacOS X 10.4.8 on a
15" MacBook Pro with the 2GHz Core Duo.

Thanks

FYI, A repair permissions from Disk Utility did not make this error go
away. The exact text of the error message is:
Microsoft Word cannot load the Microsoft Office shard libraries.
The files may have been moved from their original locations. Try the
following:
· Move Word back to the Microsoft Office folder (or the folder where
it was originally installed).
· Reinstall Word to make sure that all files are installed correctly.

Office is still in its original location. If a Re-install is required,
what's the safe way to do it without losing all of my templates,
Entourage data, etc.?

I think you may have a stranded copy of a previous version of Office on your
computer, and the patch has updated the wrong one.

The "safe" way to do this is to run the Remove Office tool, which will
safely remove everything that Microsoft created and leave anything YOU
created.

I would still recommend running a backup before you start. Rules 1 and 2 of
software maintenance: "If everything is backed up, nothing will go wrong".
If anything is missing from the backup, that's what will be irretrievably
destroyed by the update!" :)

Remove both versions, then go hunt down your Normal template and delete that
too (if you don't get it out it will cause problems).

Then run the installer to put everything back. Then run the 11.3 and 11.3.3
patches. You should be good to go after that.

Hope this helps
