11x17 splitting to 81/2x11??

S

Suzanne B.

This is the first time I have tried to use 11x17 in
Publisher and I thought I set everything right but my
printer keeps printing my document in sections on
8 1/2 x11 paper. I have gone to page setup, layout then
customized the paper size and then under printer & paper,
the drop down box under paper it does not give me the
option to of 11x17.

I went under printer properties to make sure that it is
being feed from tray 5 since that is the drawer that
holds 11x17 and it still keeps printing on 81/2 x 11

Any suggestions??

I don't know which version of Publisher you are using. But if you go to File > Page Setup > Printer and Paper tab > be sure your printer is selected in the printer choices, then click on Properties (which accesses the properties of your printer), then you need to be sure that your feed tray is set to be 11 x 17 under the settings. Normally there isn't a sensor that senses the paper size in your paper tray, so it will default to 8½ x 11.

Have you tried support for your printer? We don't know your publisher
version nor your printer version.

Suzanne,

On some printers, you need to tell the printer, through Printer Setup ON
THE PRINTER, NOT THE COMPUTER to use different size paper. It varies,
but for instance, in the settings (usually accessed by holding down a
button on the printer) to auto-select tray, or that Tray 5 has tabloid
size paper. Then your settings may work.

My printer is a Minolta di250, it is a copier but
network compatible so we print straight from our
computer. I am using Publisher 2002. I am wondering if
the setting under File >Page Setup > Printer and Paper
tab > Paper Size> is what is causing the problem, on
that drop down menu I am unable to select 11x17 these are
the only options I have:
11x14,A3,A4,A5,A6,B4,B5,B6,Executive,FLS1,FLS2,FLS3,FLS4,
Invoice, Ledger,Legal, Letter. I have tried all of them
and have been unsuccessful. And on Source I have it set
to Drawer 5 because that is our 11x17 drawer. Any other
suggestions?
