Printing options 11x17 paper

Lisa

When I choose "custom" paper, it allows me to set 11x17, however, it divides
the poster into 4 parts and prints it 'tiled'. How do I change the "printing
options" under the "print setup" tab?

Is your currently selected printer capable of printing on 11 X 17 paper and
if it can is 11X17 selected in page setup, printer and paper tab? If not
you will have trouble printing on that size paper.....

Lisa

Yes, we've printed on this paper before, and it is selected on all of those
tabs. ANy other suggestions?

Publisher 2007?
Setup your page & printer for tabloid. Don't look at print preview, it will be
wrong. Do all the creating, when you are ready to print, go straight to Edit,
Print. You will have to change your setting again to 11 x 17 but it will print
preview and print correctly.

I can't get it (PUB 2003 & Epson 1280 printer) to duplicate the problem you
are having even when changing back to a letter sized paper printer or
creating on a letter sized paper printer and "upsizing" to US B paper.
There is two places to change the paper size in Page Setup. The first place
you should change the paper to US B is under the Printer and paper tab after
you have selected your ledger sized printer from the dropdown list of
printers. Once this is done go to the other tab, Layout, and make sure the
paper size went to 11X17. If not click custom and type in the numbers but
you shouldn't have to select it as a custom size there if full page is
selected and that size is available to the printer.

If this doesn't help, let us know what make and model printer you are using.
Maybe someone can duplicate it.

Publisher 2003 does not have the problem the OP is experiencing. It is a 2007
issue. In 2003 print setup is straightforward. Not so in 2007...

I am having the same issue. I am using an HP officejet 6110. Everything is
set up for 11x17. I really need to get this printed ASAP.

It is helpful to know what version Publisher you are using.
If you are using 2007 read the answer I gave the original poster.

Thanks for the help. I am using Pub 2007 - and I have it set for tabloid.
I've set everything to 11x17, and still get my poster printed on 4-8.5x11
pages.

Are you getting this even though you are changing it to 11x17 in the File,
print? I will get 4 print outs in print preview, but when I am ready to print
and change it again to 11 x 17 in the print dialogue, it works.
I don't know what else to tell you.

It would have been nice if the OP had stated the version used earlier and I
probably should have asked that question in my original response rather than
having to wait till the next day for her to respond to your post.

Don't yet have Pub '07 installed and from what you have said, it might be a
long time before I get around to installing and learning it. Sounds like MS
might have made using the program more difficult than it was in 03. Not
trying to hijack the thread but what are the benefits to 07's print and page
setup that weren't there in the 03 version to cause the change (just the
printing not the whole program's benefits?)

I like Publisher 2007. It isn't a lot different than 2003.

The entire page setup and print leaves a lot to be desired. I have solved a lot
of the issues with workarounds. It is hard for me to explain to the poster about
the print. Maybe I'll put a page up on my web site.

I saved the doc as a PDF, then printed to 11x17 paper with no problem. Must
be some compatibility problem with our printer. Thanks for all the help!

Have you solved the poster printing issues with Publisher 2007 yet? (I noticed this post was from Sept 2007). I'm having a heck of a time with it. Had no printing problems with Pub 03. I can set it all up to print on 11 x 17 (scale to size), but it will only print an 81/2 x 11 size onto the bigger paper.

Are you setting up the printer first for 11 x 17? I've found the best workaround
for this is to go to the Advanced setup after you setup the printer, type the
dimensions. Layout type--One page per sheet. You can then select the tabloid in
the blank page setup. When you are ready to print you will have to select
tabloid again, it will preview correctly and print correctly.
