2 errors with attachments, one when sending and one when receiving

Having two problems with a new install of Entourage 2004 on OS X 10.4.

Microsoft User Data folder was copied from an older computer to bring over
previously downloaded emails and filters/settings/etc.

For basic messages with no attachments, send and receive work just fine.
However, trying to receive messages with attachments results in the following
error:

Error
An unknown error (-5000) occurred.

Explanation
Could not retrieve mail.
Account name: "xxxx"

Error: -5000

When attempting to send attachments, it causes entourage to crash.

Any ideas what could be causing this, or how to fix either or both problems?

Error -5000

Messages with an attachment creates Error -5000

Attachments are stored in the Entourage Temp folder inside the Microsoft
User Data folder. This is where Entourage is trying to save the file before
it opens. Check the permissions on this folder.

Owner Access: Read Write
Group Access: Read only
Others: Read only
You can delete the Entourage Temp folder, and Entourage will create a new
one when launched.

My guess is that there is some problem in the way you moved to the new
computer. This could explain the permissions issues as well as the sending
crash.

Let's first test to be sure it's not your Identity.

Under Entourage in the Menu bar, select "Switch Identity"
Add your account info and be sure to select "keep on server" under the
Options tab for this test Identity.

If the problems happen in the new Identity, then create a new User in System
Preferences and do the same test there. This will eliminate your User's
folder. If the problems still occur in the new test User, then it's a system
wide issue.

Rebuilding the Entourage Temp folder seems to have solved both the sending
and receiving issues.

Thanks!
