I mistakingly created a second personal file in the
outlook.pst file. How do I get rid of it?

When I try that I get a message "Create a new profile by
double-clicking the Mail Icon in Control Panel, clicking
Show Profiles, and then clicking Add. After creating the
new profile, make it your default by selecting it, and
then clicking Always use this profile." I can't see how
this message relates to the close command.

You said:

This means (to me) that you're in Outlook with your PST open and you see two
PSTs. To get rid of one of them, you right-click and choose close. If
that's not what you're talking about, could you be more specific?
