2000 & 2003 Compatible

I just bought a laptop with a trial version of Office 2003 although I have
been quite satified with the Office 2000 I have been using. Are the file
formats with the 2 Outlooks (& the rest of Office for that matter)
compatible? If I don't want to keep the 2003 can I just install my 2000
over it?

Its easy enough to uninstall 2003 and install 2000 when it comes to features like word, access, frontpage, and excel, but the problem comes in when your talking about outlook. Make sure you back up your .pst files. The uninstall doesn't delete everything. It leaves behind some folders and files, one place I remember is "c:/documents and settings/user/application data/microsoft/outlook". Make sure you get rid of all those folders before you reinstall outlook 2000 or you might have some problems.

Outlook 2003 supports 2 different types of PST files. The new format is not
backward compatible. To see which you are using, right click on Outlook
Today/Personal Folders and select properties. Select Advanced button. If
the format line reads "Personal Folders File (97-2002)" you are a-okay to
roll back.
