2000-inserting a placeholder

How do I insert a formatted graphics placeholder into my master slide?

You can't insert new placeholders in PowerPoint 2000, that is the
prerogative of PowerPoint 2007.

I am currently regularly building presentations that include photos. On each
photo I am having to resize, set the line color and thickness (border) and
set the custom animation , each and everytime. I am doing this at work, so
upgrading isn't a possiblity. Right now, I am not coming up with a way to
automate this.

Any suggestions?

If your presentation consists of photo's only you could consider using the
photo album add-in for PowerPoint 2000:

Or consider using the shape styles add-in:

and the animation copy carbon add-in:
