2000 viewer doesn't open ppt

"echo" suggested sending my recipients a link to download the viewer, but my
91 y/o aunt and 103 y/o uncle need to be able to just open the ppt.

why can't my friends and family open the ppt sent via 2000 "pack & go?"

As I recall, Pack and Go had an option to include the Viewer. However, a
Pack and Go file must be unpacked before it will work. Any way you slice
it, your recipients will need to have the full version of PowerPoint or
the Viewer to view a PowerPoint file. Without either of those, they can't
open it. PowerPoint files are not self-contained executables.

BIG Thanks, David,

You've saved me from further hair-pulling. I understood "Pack & Go" to be
self-executing. Makes me wonder why M/S even bothered to offer this
"feature." Guess I'll have to wait until someone local can download &install
the viewer for my elderly relatives.

Have you tried making a CD that includes the Viewer. I don't believe that
the Viewer has to be installed in any way. I think you can put it on the
CD and have it run from there. Newer versions of PowerPoint include
Package for CD which can set this up for you.

Pack and Go was IMO put into the program when PowerPoint first came out as a
means to transfer presentations from one computer to another using 1.4mb
floppy diskettes, as it did span multiple diskettes.
