2003 2002 compatibility

Mike ALtman

When making a doc in 2003 someone opening it in 2002 hasa
page layout problem. The page seems smaller and text at
the bottom of the 2003 doc drops down onto the next page
in the 2002 document. So instead of having say 100 pages
in the 2003 doc there are 120 pages in the 2002 doc.
Thanks Mike

Hi, Mike. Three things come to mind:

1. Word automatically repaginates documents according to the default or
currently selected Windows printer. Some differences in pagination may
be unavoidable if you and "someone" have different printers, although it
would be unusual for a difference of 20 pages to be attributable to this
unless you have a bunch of manual page breaks in the document.

2. If your document is based on a template other than Normal.dot, send
that template to "someone" along with the document, and have "someone"
put the template in his/her Word User Templates folder.

3. Disable "automatically update" in your style definitions, and in
"someone's" style definitions. See
http://www.shaunakelly.com/word/sharing/WillMyFormatChange.html for more
info about how this option works.

Thanks G&O that really seems a good start. I am amazed
that I didn't know these basic things.
Kind Regards Mike
