2003 - 2007 custom macro and custom button restore.

i have a number of macros and custom buttons in Excel 2003 that I would like
to update to 2007. How may I accomplish this? Operating systiem is XP
Professional.
I did use the "Microsoft Office 2003 Save My Settings Wizard" before the
company updated us to 2007.

For the most part Excel 2003 macros run in Excel 2007 just fine. If you had
modified your toolbars manually in Excel 2003 and those changes did not
appear automatically in Excel 2007 on the Add-ins tab, I'd suggest manually
doing a File, Open of your Excel 2003 toolbar file (Excel11.xlb, usually in
C:\Documents and Settings\<user name>\Application Data\Microsoft\Excel).

That should load your Excel 2003 toolbars into the Add-ins tab and, when you
close Excel, your Excel12.xlb should be updates to retain those changes.

I clicked "Office Button", "Excell Options", "Add-ins" and did not find any
that looked like mine.

I opened the Excel11.xlb. There was an Excel10.xlb also.
I saved it as book1 in my user directory. I did see no change to the above
add-in list.

I closed Excel and reopened Excel and went to find Excel12.xlb and it did
not exist.
Add-in list showed no change which seems right since I had on Excel12.mdb.

If the add-in is not known to Excel you should Browse to it after you click
the Go button.

Forget what I said about the XLB file. Delete any file you created from it.
It doesn't seem to apply to you. If you had an add-in that worked in Excel
2003 browse for it in Excel 2007 as per my last message.

Did you finally find a way to use your custom buttons and macros in Excel 2007?

the problem I have is that my IT department turned off Customizing the Quick
Access Toolbar. Customizing the Quick Access Toolbar would seem to be easy.
(Office Button, Word Options, customize) and select and move the items yoy
want.

Other good options are abailable in "New Users"
Search for "Scott Sornberger" (without caps) in Excel, New Users. There are
some ideas that should help.

or search for your interest and find good options.

I have spent some hours following your traces in the internet, but did not find the solution. I could not import my old excel10.xlb as an add-in (which is logical, as it is not an add-in), neither have I found an excel12.xlb on my computer. I would like to reuse my nice, shiny, self-made toolbar-icons with the underlying functions and macros!

I started a post on 3/19/2008 in "Excel New Users" which Ron de Bruin
answered. I did create a Personal.slxb from my old personal.xls as Ron
suggested. I can then go to "Developer" "Macros" select any macro I want to
use and hit "Run" and things then work as expected. So I do have my macros
but can not find the buttons. This is much better than absolutely nothing.

A url in one of Ron's replies "http://www.rondebruin.nl/qat.htm" shows how
to create a menu for macros that I havent used yet.

His url "http//www.rondebruin.nl.tips.htm lists a lot of exell tips also.

I am going to try some onec I get some time.
