2003 Connect to MS Exchange using HTTP quit working

Outlook 2003 Connect to MS Exchange using HTTP quit working on (3) of our
laptops after about one year of successful connections over the internet. At
least 40 other laptops are currently successfully connecting over the
internet.

No error logs in event viewer.

Common denominator is DELL QuickSet but uninstall does not fix.

I temporarily fixed one laptop by deleting the XP local user profile and
recreating from scratch but problem started after a couple of weeks.
Rebuilding the OST does not fix.

Toggling to Basic Authentication seems to work but the user is repeatedly
prompted for a pssword.

Please help, any suggestions welcome
