2003 file 'corruption' problem

Anne G

I have begun having problems when I email my Word 2000
docs to folks on Word 2003. (Those on Word 2000 do not
get an error message, and they and I can open the files
fine.)

If they double-click on the attachment, they get an error
message saying "Word was unable to read this document. It
may be corrupt. Try one or more of the following: Open
and Repair the file...."

If they save the document, then open using Open and
Repair, then they get the following message "Errors were
detected in this file, but Word was able to open the file
by making the repairs listed below. Save the file to make
the repairs permanent." Errors listed are "Internal Data
Integrity (Type 4) 1" and "Internal Data Integrity (Type
4) 2". Can anyone help me pinpoint what sort of problem
this may indicate?

I am also having the same problems. I have done all of
the fixes from MS. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I'm also having this problem with "corrupted" files in Word2003. About
10% of the documents I receive from users of Word XP or older cannot
be opened directly in Word 2003. The application telles me that file
is corrupt. The only workaround I have found so far is to open the
document in wordpad and then save it as RTF and the open it in Word
2003. This is obviously very annoying.

This may be the Office Plug-in in Norton Anti Virus or may indicate that you
need to update Word 2003 (from the Office Update site).

I thougth that there would be some sort of patch for this problem on
office update, but after downloading and installing the latest updates
for office 2003 and word the problem still persists.

I too am also having the exact same error when opening some
attachments from word 2000 or xp versions. I have been unable to
track down the particular fault or what is causing it but instead i
have to do an open and rpair in order to be able to see it.

Any ideas greatfully received.

PS i have applied all updates but this has had no effect

Using Open & Repair is the correct way to do it.
