2003; fonts changing to windings

M

Using 2003 beta. At random, text changes to winding-like
font, although 'format font' still shows Lucinda Sans.

Happens almost while watching, and progressively worsens.
Can't save, hangs, then need to do three-finger salute.
Thanks from Australia. No virus present.

Maggie, you are pretty talented.- how are you managing to do this? Don't be
shy, we can take it on the chin <g>

Do you have the update from the Office website for the Publisher 2003 Beta
Refresh?
http://office.microsoft.com/productupdates/mainCatalog.aspx

Is this an original as in you typed up the information in Publisher, or did
you import the data from another word processing file?
If you did import the data what:
program?
version?
file format was used?
What version of Windows are you using?

As far as I am aware, I do not have Font Embedding on.
When I go into Tools, I don't see anything about Embedded
Fonts. Thanks for helping an Aussie

Thanks for helping.

Publisher is Beta 2003.....no updates at Microsoft site.

Documents come from all over the place, but also happens
with Microsoft Word, a number of versions. Not sure if it
happens with what I've keyed in.... I'll keep an eye on
it. Windows XP SP1.
I'd like to think that it is a nice feature, but it only
occurs as monthly deadlines approach. I send the
completed Publisher electronically to my printer. The
problem is random, and I don't actually fix it; I
ctrl+alt+del (as Publisher hangs), pray to my deity, and
go again.

Maggie I wonder if this could be an issue with your printer driver and font
substitution. It would not surprise me considering you are having the issue
with Word.

The Publisher documents you are having this issue on, are they imported from
Word, or typed in directly to Publisher?

What brand and model printer are you using?

Is this a network or local printer?

If it is a network printer, do you have a local printer connected to the
desktop computer Publisher is installed on?

Another thing I would check is in the Control Panel then REGIONAL AND
LANGUAGE OPTIONS and make sure the country is set to Australia.

Maggie it is inevitable it happens towards monthly deadlines, as Murphy is
firmly in charge!!!
