2003 Image Problems

Hi,
I've been using Publisher 97 since it came out. I finally upgrade
last month to 2003. i think I figured out all of the quirks that are
bit different, but I have a problem.
After I FTP the files to my site the graphics load slowly. It can tak
up to 2 minutes to load a single graphic on dial-up. Publisher 9
graphic files load pretty seamlessly.
Any suggestions,
Lynn

Huge changes in web features took place in the 2002 version and more
appeared in 2003.
Going from 97 to 2003 is a little like Windows 3.1 to Windows XP.

to get an idea of common issues.
2003 html pages will be considerably larger then 97 html pages and thus take
longer to download. The latter was traditional html coding while 2003 is
not, 2003 is targeted towards higher fidelity display and IE specific
technology and assumes that broadband is more commonplace.
If you install Office 2003 SP 1 it will add a new "compress" button to your
Pub 2003 picture toolbar. This added tool is to be used to give your web
site compressed image output for faster loading images.
In the future be sure to review this forum when you have inquiries, for
example this compress pictures tool is frequently a topic here that you
could have learned about.

David,
Thanks so much! Unfortunately, I had already read the other posts an
used the compression key and still the graphics are unbearably slo
when using dial-up.

I had noticed the code. I know a bit of HTML and used to go in an
edit the file in notepad to enhance it a bit, but I'm afraid I won't b
able to do that in 2003 without some research.

Can I load MSPUB '97 on my computer with 2003 on here? At least unti
I can figure out how to get these images to load at a tolerable rate.

Here are two sites that are causing my daughter and I problems (she ha
been using 2000 previously)

http://www.calvaryfifth.com/index.htm (if you don't use the index.htm
you'll arrive at the site created in '97. I haven't made the new sit
the dedicated one until I resolve this problem.)

http://www.monicalynnephotography/meadow.htm - I just checked this on
again. Not sure if she deleted the pics or what, but it's not eve
beginning to load on my end, so this might not be a good example.

thanks Again,
Lynn
