2003 linked table manager bug

B

Bob

I ran into the bug described in KB 835519 where the linked table manager
will not work with 2 versions of access because the correct version of
accwiz is not registered. I ran regsrv32.exe, etc as the KB article said to
do to resolve this but it still does not work, i .e for an access 2000 file,
the wizard in 2003 shows no linked tables while 2000 does show them for the
same file. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Bob,

I've seen posts about this as well. Here is some information from a Microsoft employee which may
help:
I have seen this issue when re-registering Accwiz.dll does not work you will
need to manually change the below registry key and make sure it's pointing
to the correct file

C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\OFFICE11\ACCWIZ.DLL

HKey_Classes_Root\TypeLib\{5B87B6F0-17C8-11D0-AD41-00A0C90DC8D9}\8.0\0\win32
\(Default)

I hope this helps! If you have additional questions on this topic, please
respond back to this posting.

Jeff,
Thanks so much as that fixed it! You got to wonder, though, why
Microsoft wouldn't include this in the KB article!!

You're welcome Bob, glad I could help.
I would suspect that Microsoft will at some point add that to the KB article.
