2003 office working poorly

stuck again

My 2003 office is working poorly (at times when I click on an office document
the computer gets jammed up and does nothing til I shut it down.) so I tried
to have the computer's "repair" program fix the problem---I inserted the disc
I originally downloaded the program from when I was instructed, but it was
"missing a file" Do I need to uninstall and reinstall office 2003? Am I
going to lose any saved documents then?? Since my activation code has
already been used will this create more problems when trying to reinstall.
Do you have any other suggestions as to how to handle this problem?

What file are you missing? If you are encountering this error on trying to
repair the installation then more than likely you'll encounter it if you
attempt to uninstall.

Also, reinstalling Office doesn't not affect your data files and you
shouldn't need to reactivate the software if all you are doing is
reinstalling/repairing. If you do and activation isn't automatic then it
would be a matter of making a phone call and explaining your situation to
get it activated again.

The error message says "file ZF561407.CAB could not be found". After I put
the disc in and press ok it continues to say the same thing. What should I
do? I really appreciate you help!

What you need to do is obtain the following utility, use it to remove the
Windows Installer information for Office 2003 (and any Office 2003
application that may be installed as a stand-alone version) and then
reinstall Office 2003 from your installation CD to rebuild the entries for
the Windows Installer. Note that this doesn't remove the installation files
for Office on your computer, only the installation information:

I downloaded the utility, but when I went to run it, I couldn't find the
msicuu.exe file. Any ideas?

Msiccu.exe is an older version of the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility. Is
it possible that you had this previously installed and are trying to use the
old shortcut? Also, did you run through the installation for the file you
downloaded?
