2003 - Proper CAL License Count

Kathy S

Which is the correct way to verify MSP & PWA license count?
PWA > Admin > About MSPS 2003
OR
Select WRES_ID, RES_NAME, WRES_CAN_LOGIN, WRES_Count_License from
MSP_WEB_RESOURCES (where WRES_Count_License = 1)

Thanks,
Kathy

To determine the number of CAL's needed, I would recommend the following:

1. Log into PWA with administrator permissions
2. Click Admin - About Microsoft Office Project Server 2003

From the license count indicated on the page, deduct the number of Microsoft
Project users, and then deduct 5, and then deduct 1 more. My understanding
is that each copy of Microsoft Project Professional includes a CAL,
therefore you don't need to purchase another CAL for your Project
Professional users. My understanding is that Project Server 2003 includes 5
CAL's with your purchase of the software (which is why you deduct 5). Also,
the CAL count includes the built-in Adminstrator account, and I don't
believe you need to buy a CAL for that user account (which is why you deduct
1 more).

Please know that I'm not an expert on Project Server licensing, so if I am
wrong, I will kindly invite someone to correct me. Otherwise, I hope this
helps.
