2003 Tables SLOWdown

K

Kay Martin

I use a long table on a DNA site for genealogy and it has made my data entry
slow down to the point of no longer being able to update the site. My
computer is a Dell Pentium III with 512 MB RAM. I don't have any problems
with other web pages. Is there something I can do with this long table to
make it work? Thanks!

When you say it has made your data entry slow down, do
you mean the actual data entry (ie, the keystroking
process)? The way you have written your question implies
this is the case. If so, no suggstions to help you except
to put more manpower on the task.

If. on the other hand, you mean that the page is now
taking too long to upload, your best bet would be to
figure out a means of breaking the table into multiple
pages.

If neither of the above addresses your problem, come back
here with a file size of the page in question and a
better description of "Is there something I can do with
this long table to make it work?" ... specifically your
defintion of what you define as not working (I can't save
the file in Front Page, I can't upload the file to my
host, It takes too long to upload the file to my host,
etc.).
