2007 Compatibility patch

I must have downloaded the patch because I have it, although I don't remember
doing so. Therefore my question is this: Can I uninstall the 2007
compatibility with my Student/Teacher 2003 Office without running into the
'normal' problems one gets when doing such thing with Microsoft office? I
also HAVE NOT downloaded the sp3, as I find that doing so without an absolute
necessity usually brings more headaches then the service pack provides. Will
it ever be necessary to update to sp3 and if so, why?

Hi, tbhawk,

1) Why do you not want compatibility with later file versions?

2) Usually if you want support from a company for its software, they will
require/expect you to be at a certain service pack level. Service packs do
often fix errors that would occur otherwise. That said, there have been
several problems with 2003 SP3. As for the question "will I have to
update", NO, you don't have to update, just like you don't have to install
the software to begin with! It's your computer, and you may install what you
wish. But I would suggest that you review the fixes that the patch provides
and determine if they are things that apply to your specific situation. No
one can really answer that question for you without knowing your specific
configuration, usage scenarios and computing needs.

A list of issues fixed in SP3 can be found here:
