2007 - Create SSP Problem

Howdy, all!!

Attempting to create our dev environment: medium farm, separate virtual web
and app servers (in a VMWare virtual farm), 2 proc, 2GB RAM; SQL 2005 SP1 on
separate server.

We were able to get the web server installed and working, but while working
on the app server we ran into this issue while creating the SSP:

The current process identity does not have the required permissions to
manage security on database server 'SQL2005DEV\DEV'.

We have a separate domain ID for the SSP, and it currently has db_creator
and securityadmin rights on the SQL server. Other errors indicated that it
might have been a connection issue, so we granted the SSP ID Remote
Connection rights, and we still get the same error. We even tried the
installation ID (Server Admin group on the weba and app servers) and got the
same error.

Any help will be greatly appreciated,

They need to be in the same Domain.

Everything (servers and IDs) is in the same domain.

Problem resolved!!!

The ID we created to administer the farm did not have securityadmin rights
on the SQL server. After we made that change, the SSP creation completed
successfully.
