(2007) Difference Between resource and Assignment tables - Data An

Could someone help me understanding the conceptual difference between
Assignments fields and Resource Fields?
I don't understand the concept of Assignment at all.
For Example, When creating RESOURCE Custom Fields, It Creates automatically
Resource Fields and Assignment fields on the Data Analysis Cubes.

I know that I'm confusing some concepts here but that's why I need help.

A resource field is information about a particular resource. An assignment
field is used to capture information about a particular resource on a
particular task (an assignment).

Gustavo,

Think of an assignment as the combination of 1 resource and 1 task. If
you put 3 resources on the same task, you have 3 assignments.
