2007 & LOE work

Does 2007 allow a budget to disappear if not used? My client wants to
forecast a resource at 10% level of effort for a maintenance role for 3
months. I used each scenario of the scheduling algorithms (Fixed
dur/unit/work w/ & w/o effort driven) to allow unused work hours to disappear
if not used. So far, each scenario only saved the unused work hours and
pushed these unused hours ahead of the status date.

We need this type of effort management to combine with each resource's
budget when working both LOE and Project work.

I am open to workable ideas....

Hi,

One thought, which may be a little labourious, is to manually adjust the
hours worked per day for that task in the Resource Usage view.

Hello Matt,

An option is to drop the remaining work on the task. For example: you
had originally assigned your resource at 10% to a 3 week duration task.
Week 1 the resource only records 2 hours of actual work (2 hours less
than scheduled.) The duration of the task changes to 3.5 weeks with 10
hours of remaining work. Drop the remaining work to 8 hours and the
task re-adjusts to the 3 week duration.

I hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.

Julie and David,

Thanks for your suggestions. We can use these techniques on some of our
projects. I will still look for an automatic method for projects with
hundreds of tasks and multiple resources.
