2007 Microsoft Office Suite Service Pack 1 (SP1)

I left the 2007 Microsoft Office Suite Service Pack 1 (SP1) to download as it
said it was going to take 68 hours (the joy of country living and dial
up). When I got back to the computer there was an error message saying it
had recovered from a serious error!!! Didn't get the error#.
XP (English). My update history showing 2007 Microsoft Office Suite Service
Pack 1 (SP1) failed to install.

IMO you are wasting you time trying to download Office 2007 SP-1 using a
dialup connection.

I suggest you wait.

In the past Microsoft has offered a free CD of Service Packs. There is a
production delay between the release of a Service Pack online and the
availability of a CD. Suggest you check:
http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/downloads/default.aspx in mid-January.
Even if the CD is not free, it will likely be less costly than a dialup
download.

Downloading time isn't an issue.
The problem was the message saying the computer had recovered from a serious
error and that SP1 failed to download/install.

During a long dialup download a number of errors can occur. Without
specifics of the error, suggesting a solution is not possible.

Ok thanksabunch.
Hope you're not digging out from the miles of snow we're getting up here in
Ontario :)
Merry Christmas.

it is true that a very long downloadtime is likely to result in a corrupt
file. However you could try using GetRight (free trial0 for a faster
(segmented) download.
I suggest it is not worth spending a lot of time ove this service pack
because:

1 It has little new, so only really useful for new by=uyers of office 2007
2 In about 80% of cases i have experienced it fails to install or installs
incorrectly
3 If it does install you will not notice any difference.
So why have the hassle?

Happy Christmas
