[2007] My timesheet vs. My tasks

R

Robert X

Hello,

What is the main difference between My Tasks and My Timesheet ?
The same resource can see 8 tasks in his My Timesheet page, but only one in
his My Tasks page (and this last one is not in My Timesheet).
;-(

Thanks

The My Timesheet page displays tasks scheduled during the current reporting
period, along wth Administrative time categories defined by the Project
Server administrator. The My Tasks page displays current tasks only,
although the team member can set up the page to show all tasks. The My
Tasks page does not display Administrative tasks. Hope this helps.

Dale,
I expected that too, but :
- for the current week, the resource R1 can see 2 tasks in his/her My
Timesheet page (+ the 4 Administrative tasks)
- for the current week, the resource R1 can't any task in his/her My Tasks
page.
- for the current week, the administrator can see the 2 tasks for R1 in the
Resource Assignment page

Other intrigue: In the My Tasks page, some users can see several tasks they
are not assigned to. These tasks are assigned to another resource.

Any idea ?

Without being able to see your environment first hand, I can't really explan
the My Timesheet vs. My Tasks page behavior. On the other issue, check the
Default Assignment Owner field for the resources whose tasks are showing up
on other resource's My Tasks page. Let us know what you find.

Dale,

All the resources were their own Default Assignment Owner, or they didn't
have any Default Assignment Owner.
I removed (blank) all the Default Assignment Owner : the problem is the
same.

If you want tasks to appear on each resource's My Tasks page and My
Timesheet page, you need to specify the Default Assignment Owner field to
the resource. This means that Mickey Cobb should be set as the Default
Assignment Owner for the resource named Mickey Cobb. DO NOT leave this
field blank, because if you do, Project Server 2007 makes the PROJECT
MANAGER the assignment owner and puts all of the resource's tasks on the
Project Manager's My Tasks page and the My Timesheet page.

To correct this problem, open the project and insert the Assignment Owner
field in the Task Usage view. Make sure the Assignment Owner field
correctly names the resource assigned to the task, and if not, correct it.
Then republish the project. Hope this helps.
