2007 Office Suite upgrade to new laptop

I am replacing a laptop which had a legal MS Office Pro 2000 and I have the
key and disk. Do I need to install Pro 2000 in the new laptop before
installing an upgrade version of Office 2007 or can I use the old product
key? Thanks

No you dont need to install the qualifying version in order to install the
upgrade, you just need the disk available to point to during the 2007
install
You use the key provided with your 2007 upgrade cd
NB You must uninstall any trial version and or Activation assistant and
reboot prior to installing from CD
