2007 vs. 2003

There's detailed info available on the MS website. Check it out.

Before you buy Office 2007, you might want to download a free 60 day trial
version. The UI is radically different. Whereas some like it, a lot of
longterm/power users don't. It appears to be designed for the kindergarten
level.

I used the trial version for several weeks. I use Excel heavily. It kept
crashing intermittently. I found the UI to be illogical, ridiculous and a
productivity killer. Hence, I decided not the shell out the $$$ Gates & Co.
wanted and reverted to Office 2003 instead. Voila, not one crash since then
and productivity is back to normal.

Your mileage may differ!

Got both... 2007 looks great and should be great but is in actuality a poor
relation.#
2003 much better, don't waste money on this new faulty product (2007 that is).

That is all in the eyes of the user. I prefer Office 2007 especially for
those seldom used applications like Access where the Ribbon is actually a
vast improvement over the old menu structure unless you absolutely knew what
you were doing.

To the OP who is inquiring about 2003 vs. 2007, why not download a trial of
2007 and decide for yourself? You are the only arbiter of opinion that
matters, irrespective of the many vocal opponents/advocates of the 2007
interface.

This is why a trial version exists - to try to see if it fits your needs.

If download speeds are an issue, you can also order a CD for a nominal
shipping and handling fee.

A casual, infrequent Access user?

Someone should ask - given what Access does, who uses it who doesn't
use it reguarly?

I am in exactly the category that Milly has stated. I use Access, maybe
once or twice a month to access a database created by a past employee.
Other than that it never graces my screen. I also like the new Ribbon UI
for the same reason: there's (IMO) a lot less hunting for menu items
with the new Ribbon for someone like me who does not have a lot of
Access experience. I can see why someone who is a long time Office power
user would not like having to change their well worn and time proven
method of getting work done but for me, a casual user, I think that the
Ribbon is great.
