Around Christmas 2007 I purchased the student edition of Office 2004 as it said that I would be able to update to the 2008 edition as soon as it came out. However I received no such information on how to do this and was wondering how I can claim this offer? Thanks.

There were 2 separate promotions that were offered by MS - one was totally
free, the other involved a $10 shipping fee. Both, however, have long since
expired. I don't have any idea what "it" is that "said" this to you, but
they should have also said that it would not auto-magically happen.

As with any such promotions you were required to obtain & submit a form
along with proof of purchase, etc. The 2008 release would have been shipped
to you when available. If the vendor you bought from didn't give you
accurate details on how to claim the upgrade I'd definitely give them an
earful, but I doubt that it will do much good at this point. You also can
try contacting MS Customer Service to see if there is any possibility of an
exception, but that's a long shot as well.
