Ctrl-D is "deselect" in most programs? I don't know what "most" programs
you regularly run, but I expect Ctrl-D to be "delete." I also tend not to
use keyboard shortcuts until I've verified what they do. Life is less
stressful that way.

I'd say the OP is exaggerating. CTRL-D is NOT a standard. For instance
take Adobe products, Ctrl-D IS "deselect" in PhotoShop, but NOT in
Acrobat. In SOME Microsoft products it IS Delete but not ALL. Funny
thing is CTRL-Z is UNDO in ALL the products I've looked at. So it's just
another case of looking to blame someone else for one's own ineptitude.

Allow me to introduce you a nifty folder called "Deleted Items". When
you delete an Outlook item it's not permanently deleted, instead it
goes into the Deleted Items folder. Check there and you should find
your deleted contacts.

Also, as Bob pointed out, a good keyboard command to learn is Ctrl + Z
which is Undo and it can be used even if you don't see a command for
Undo in the application.

Please post all follow-up questions to the newsgroup. Requests for
assistance by email can not be acknowledged.
