2nd Post - Exchange Server and Ent 2008 WSE Problems - Can anyonehelp?

Thomas H. Hart III

I posted this a couple of days ago and received no response. Still having
problems.

Since then, I have removed 13,000 e-mails from my Identity, no folder has
5,000 e-mails (only 2 have even more than 1,000), compacted the size from
9.5 to 5.3 GB, and moved all folders to Inbox level (instead of being
subfolders of Inbox).

Anything else?

Thanks,

Tom Hart

Problem 1: As I posted yesterday, running Ent 2008 WSE dramatically slows my
internet connection for other programs.

I am running a 3.06 GHz MBP with 8 GB RAM, OSX 10.5.8 and Entourage Version
13.0.0 (090609) connected to a web hosted Exchange Server 2007 with all
updates. I have DSL 6.0 megabits/sec internet connection that regularly hits
5.7 or 5.8 megabits/sec when WSE is not running but much slower when WSE is
running.

My browsers (either Camino or Safari) load much slower when WSE is running.

Under Activity Monitor, Under Network, the Data Sent is consistently 60+
KB/sec. It seems that WSE recreated an identity so I guess it had to
download all old e-mails and attachments, correct? I had a ~9 GB identity so
shouldn't it be through by now?

The Progress Bar shows Uploading from Folders on my laptop to the Exchange
Server. In most instances, the only activity in the Folder had been to view
mail in Preview so the only Upload needed is to change status from Unread to
Read. This Upload activity can take 5-10 minutes per folder.

Following a recommendation, I moved my Folders from being sun-folders to
Inbox to being the same level as the Inbox but there is no difference.

Any other suggestions?

Problem 2: I am receiving error messages every Send/Receive saying:
"Could not synchronize record: FOLDER to Exchange Server: NAME" Where FOLDER
is a e-mail folder and NAME is the name of my exchange Server.

I have resynchronized the Folder and emptied the cache, anything else I can
do?

Thanks for any help.

If you haven't already, use Entourage menu --> Switch Identity to create
a new identity. Set up your Exchange settings again and allow your mail
to sync from the server. With your type of connection and mailbox size,
this will take quite a while, but any confusion that Entourage has about
messages it has compared to those on the server should be resolved.

Hope this helps!

Things are working; this is what I did:

1. Made a back up of my Identity
2. Moved folders from being subfolders of InBox to being same level as InBox
(does anyone know if this is necessary?).
3. Cleaned up e-mail from folders, moved 13,000+ to archive (EagleFiler) and
made sure no folder had more than 5,000;
4. Compacted Identity;
5. Repaired Permissions;
6. Created a new Identity (took over a day to download e-mail);
7. Did a Archive and Install of Leopard;
8. Did a Archive and Install of Snow Leopard.

Most important probably were 3,6,7 and 8. I really would like to know if 2
was necessary because I don't like the look - I would prefer my Folders to
be sub-folders of Inbox unless that would degrade performance.
