3 Issues with Visio

Hi we have Viso Standard 2002 and 2003 installed on our network. A user has reported a number of issues (below) that he has come accross during a recent project and I was wondering if any one could provide some help. Thanks in advance for any assistanc

1. When adding an 'off page' reference a diagram locked up and issued an error message. This appeared to be related to the size of the file as the diagram had a lot of linked pages to achieve nesting of details. The error messaage I sent to microsoft described this problem, but I never received a response. The situation only arose once, I have not experienced this problem on any diagrams I have created. However, the specific diagram remained permanently affected

2. Where a template is defined and replicated using the 'off page' reference icon, if changes are made to the the initial template strange things happened to other templates and the diagram re-aligns things requiring manual adjustment. Again this problem arose in diagrams created by someone else and I beleive it is related to the set up layer options available within the product and associated locking of information

3. Diagrams created in the version of Visio installed on my machine when transferred and opened on office machines would re-scale/compress small areas of diagram layouts. I beleive this is due to the fact that the office PC's are running a slightly newer version of the software which might be a multi-user version

You won't get a direct reply from an error report; those are logged for
future service packs and upgrades.

I don't know if this is a *direct* contributor to your issue, but I highly
recommend installing as much ram as you can afford on each machine running
large and/or complex Visio files. I had to go up to 1 gigabyte before
resolving file size issues on one of my large projects. I have heard of
other users experiencing related problems that were resolved by increasing
physical ram. Note that increasing virtual ram is not much help in this
case.
