Hi,

We have suddenly had 4 users in our office have Entourage crash on them - 2 are using 2008, two are using 2004. The common link between them is that they share access to their calendars and to their Inbox. The sysptoms started yesterday when Entourage just froze, and they had to quit out. When they went back in they were told that the database was damaged and they should try rebuilding the data base.

They tried to do this but other Microsoft Office applications needed to be quit first, yet there were none open. On looking at Activity Monitor, the Microsoft Database Daemon had stopped responding, so we force quit that.

Even after rebuilding the data base, when they restart their computer and then restart Entourage, after a short period Entourage hangs again while they are busy synching all their info off the server.

I want them to be able to restart Entourage and not have it start synching, so they can remove their connection to the other mailboxes. Any ideas on how to do this?

TIA

The Microsoft Database daemon is used in notifications. It sounds like a
corrupt calendar event is causing this. Most likely it's one of the recent
events since this all started at the same time. Have one use try deleting
the event and see if this clears the issue. I don't use Exchange so there
might be a way to delete the shared folder to clear this issue.

I suggest asking on the microsoft.public.exchange.admin newsgroup. One of
our Exchange experts might be able to help but if the problem is on the
server, this group might be able to give you the help you need.

If you are not familiar with a newsreader, Entourage's basic newsreader
already has the Microsoft News server included. All you do is subscribe to
the newsgroups you want. See this article for help subscribing using the
Entourage newsreader:

Hope this helps!
