42" Plasma TV will not show 16:9 powerpoint presentation full scre

Hi -

I have two different 42" plasma tvs on which I'm unable to get a powerpoint
presentation set to the correct aspect ratio to show full screen. The TV
stretches presentations created as 16:9 and puts black bars at the top & the
bottom. I checked the FAQ referenced in another question and it did not
provide a solution. Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks!

How are you sending the signal to the display? What type of computer and
video card are you using? You can not clone, or mirror, the source display
and get the proper image. Most computer video cards will plug and play with
wide screen displays. Assuming you made 16x9 or 8x4.5 slides, you must
either send the signal only to the wide display or use extended desktop. In
these modes, the proper resolution should show as an option in your display
settings. Check the specs of the wide display to see what the native
resolution is. In some cases, you can download a file from the display
manufacturer that tells Windows what the display can do.

Hi Laura

If you can tell us the make/del of the plasmas, we can look up the
configurations for the screen aspect.

I just used a Panasonic 42" plasma for a show and its setting was for a
4:3 ratio screen (like a PC monitor or standard TV). I had to use the
remote to set the plasma to a 16:3 ratio and saved it. All was then ok
for me.
