5.5.2 Syntax error

D

I connect to Gmail via IMAP using Entourage 2008.

Every time I "Send/Receive" I get a "5.5.2 Syntax error" message.

I know *why* I'm getting this error, I sent an email with a malformed
email address, but I can't get to the email to delete it from my
outgoing queue as there is no "Outgoing" folder!

I've tried rebuilding my mail database with no success.

Thoughts?

Messages sent via IMAP go to the "Outbox" folder on My Computer (unless this
changed from v2004 to v2008). You should be able to delete the message from
the Outbox, in which case it will go into "Deleted Items" on My Computer.

Hey, spot on, thanks, that was driving me mad!

I never thought to look there as I always associated the My Computer
folder with my old POP3 mbx.

Sorted!

Of course you know that Ed was right. FYI, Entourage has just the one
Outbox for all accounts regardless of whether you're sending via SMTP or
Exchange.

Ah, that's interesting Bill. It leads me onto another question (I
guess I should really start a new thread).

I'd like to apply a rule to my outgoing email via Gmail/IMAP but the
"Outgoing" tab in "Rules" doesn't seem to apply to mail sent via IMAP.

Yes, you should start a new thread!

Since all outgoing messages all go through the Outbox folder On My Computer,
outgoing rules apply to all of them.
