550 [PERMFAIL] destination not valid within DNS

Claus

Hello,
I've been having problems sending eMails ever since I signed up with
Comcast. First with Outlook Express, now with Outlook 2003. With Outlook
Express, messages would remain in my Outbox and I would get a DNS error. When
I opened the message from the Outbox, I would be able to send it. With
Outlook 2003, the message appears to be sent, but then I receive an immediate
System Administrator message with the following text:
Your message did not reach some or all of the intended recipients.

Subject: RE: Ihre Rechnung 501
Sent: 9/1/2005 10:16 AM

The following recipient(s) could not be reached:

'Invoice (ADAPT)' on 9/1/2005 10:16 AM
550 [PERMFAIL] destination not valid within DNS

Sometimes, it is a 450 TEMPFAIL error instead. When I open the message from
my Sent Items folder, I can forward it to the same address that was
previously rejected (it happens both when replying or sending a new message).
I turned on the logging feature, and here is the output from one failed send:

This happens sporadically, sometimes with attachments, sometimes without.
Comcast says there is nothing wrong with their servers and that they don't
support Outlook 2003. They say that something in the eMail address I'm trying
to send to is invalid, but I don't buy that. It is very frustrating because I
work from home, and having eMails bounce back repeatedly slows me down, plus
I can never be sure if my eMails are delivered. Any input is appreciated.
Thanks,
Claus

Hello, and thank you for pointing me to this article. I've read it before,
but am not sure how it helps me resolve my issue. I don't receive any
assistance from my ISP except the statement that the address I'm trying to
send to is invalid. The article also says something about me not being
recognized as an authorized user. I really don't know what to do at this
point. It just happened again, I tried to send a message, immediately
received error 550, and then I opened the message from my Sent Items folder
and forwarded it - which worked.

Miss PJ

Hello there. I am having the same problem but not getting anywhere trying to
solve on my own. I have checked every email, etc. I also have Comcast and I
do believe it is Comcast because, the ones that would not go yesterday
morning, went last night. Now, as I type, I have 5 more messages just
sitting in the Outbox, failing to send, as well. I don't know what the
answer is but if you find out about a particular setting we should adjust,
PLEASE let me know, ok? Thanks & good luck! PJ

Claus,

I called Comcast and they said they are having a problem sending to msn and
hotmail and are working on the problem.

Thanks,
Claus

Hello there,

meanwhile, my problem sending mail is limited to just one domain, and it
seems that it is a problem on their end. I've been trying to get a resolution
with Comcast, but they told me last that they don't even monitor where I send
eMail to. Basically, they don't care about outgoing mail, so a 550 Permfail
DNS error seems to be a problem on the recipient's side not allowing mail
from your Comcast address.

PJ

Hello,
I've been having problems sending eMails ever since I signed up with
