97 back end with 97 & 2000 front end?

We have a need to keep the back end of a large database in
Access 97 (for now). It is a split database. We have some
users who will have Access 2000 front end and some who have
Access 97 front end. The table that is updated is in the
97 back end, with the 2000 having a linked table to it. It
appears that it will work, does anyone know why it would
not?

Another alternative would be to put both 97 & 2000 on same
machine, which we have experimented with. Seems to be
simpler to use the different front ends.

Other ideas?
Thanks!
Kathy

A client has been happily running 10-15 users in an A97 FE and 10-15
users in an A2000 FE against an A97 BE for almost a year. Note that
Jet 3.5 SP 3 and Jet 4.0 SP 6 are installed.
