_vti_cnf Folders

I've skimmed the newsgroup for info about the _vti_cnf folders, but
can't find the answer to my particular question. We have users that
use FP to publish their sites, but I made some changes on some forms
recently where I used TextPad to make the changes (on ASP files). We
were changing from a form processor mailto.exe to custom ASPmail
processing page. So I made changes to the actual forms, but since I
didn't make the changes through FrontPage, the corresponding pages in
the _vti_cnf folder still contained references to the mailto.exe app:
vti_cachedlinkinfo:VX|A|http://---.---.---/cgi-bin/mailto.exe
vti_cachedsvcrellinks:VX|NAHS|http://---.---.---//cgi-bin/mailto.exe

Will that cause problems with my forms? It doesn't appear to affect
them, but I wanted to be sure.

Thanks!

That's a no-no. Once you start using FP enabled webs, then you must
continue to use FP to uplaod publishe changes. That's becuase FP uses
vti folders and duplicates of files (that conien HTML code) to manage
the FP enabled web site and its changes.

You may want to use FP to make changes to the file and then save/publish
it.
