A Challenging question!

Hello:

I have a question regarding the relationship b/w
Project Server and Sharepoint services. Both are working
fine separetely over extranet( or you can say on internet)
BUT the problem arises when project server creates
sharepoint sites when publish the project. It shows the
published project's site links with the local server name
rather than FQDN in PWA under Sharepoint Manage option.
For e.g. it shows this way

http://serverName/sites/projectname_101

So if i click that link from outside it gives an error
(but works fine in intranet). As i mentioned above that
if i write in the url the same thing by changing its
local server name to FQDN , it also works. The problem is
that links in PWA under Issues/Risks/Documents bcoz it
refers the local server name.

Is anyway to change that link's URL with FQDN rather
than LocalServer Name.

Your help would be a huge support.

Note: Project Server(PWA) IS WORKING FINE OVER
INTERNET.The problem is with STS if i work by using
PWA.

Hi Kon,

Firstly, you need to make sure that you have the correct extranet addresses
configured, both under PWA --> Admin --> Manage WSS, and under PWA -->
Admin --> Server configuration.

Then you need to make a registry change:

a) open up regedit.exe on the server
b) go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office\11.0\MS
Project\WebClient Server\projectserver\Datasets\STS
c)change the "isextranet" from 0 to 1

Hi Nico:

Thank you so much for ur reply and it worked for me. Now
i have 2 questions.

1- By doing your steps, all links worked fine except

PWA-->Documents-->Project1(select first project)-->
selected a document folder --> and then click 'All
document Libraries' sub menu option

After clicking this link, it goes to local server name
again... like
http://servername/sites.....

It's really weired as all other links fine except
this. any idea?

2- Whenever I try to perform certain actions (like edit
existing issues or risk and synchronization with Project
Server) in Project Server web access, I get the following
error :

---------------------------
Microsoft Internet Explorer
---------------------------
Windows SharePoint Services cannot access information
from Project Server.
The possible reasons are:

1. The cross domain data access security setting for your
Internet browser
is disabled.
2. You have declined to access cross domain data when
prompted.

It is recommended that you add the Project Server URL and
the SharePoint URL
to the list of trusted sites on the Security tab of the
Internet Options
dialog box, or enable cross domain data access on the
Security tab or when
prompted. Then refresh the page.

Again thank you and really apreciated ...
