A client cannot access data but every other can

I need help!
Access is not my thing for me it is server and network admin but my current
position means i need to "dabble" in databases which i truly hate, so if you
need servers to be administered or cisco kit to be configured then i am your
man. anyway my problem.

I have a client that cannot access the data in the company database. Other
clients can, which is strange.

It is a report from inside a form that is trying to be run but other than
that their is no more i can tell as i have little experience of supporting
access. All i know is that the permissions are adequte and that the data was
able to be accessed a few weeks ago but now it is coming up with a blank page
and not the data. All the network conectivity is fine and the data is being
sourced from the correct source.

So this is a nightmare.

If someone can help i will need some prompting as i hate this realm of IT,
for me networks and security is my field so if their is help out their it is
appreciated.

As a network admin, you know that "It doesn't work" doesn't give you much to
go on. Neither does complaining about the situation. So, assuming that you
are a professional (There is no such thing as a non-professional Cisco user)
let's get to work and solve your problem.

First try deleting (or renaming) his local front end and replacing it with
another one from a working machine with the same drive mappings. Can he
read/write data now? If not:

1. Can this client machine read/edit any other data from this database?

2. If yes, are his permissions set to everything BUT Full Control?

3. If he is the only user in the database, can he run the report?

First up, cheers for the reply your help is welcome. secondly i am afraid
that what you have mentioned does not help.

I renamed the front end rebooted then re-established the front end straight
from a client pc which can access the data. Still no joy?

1.The client can access the very same data from a different report but the
option that is being questioned gives the complete report of the database
rather than a part of the database, which can be accessed
2. The client in question is a member of the management group which has
read/write permissions to the database
3.I have been unable to gauge this as it is a database that is vital to the
business, so their is no chance of this. I will just go in early doors and
try this.

If however this does not work...do you have any suggestions?

No doubt you will be aware of the pressure applied by non-techie persons who
seem to think that if you are good with PC you know everything...Opps! going
on a bit my apologies. No matter if you cannot help i still appreciate the
input. I am away to relax have a nice weekend.
