A dialog box is open error

L

Lew

I'm using O2002/sp1 on a WXP box. Within the last day, it's been giving
me erroneous "a dialog box is open" messages. There are no active dialogs on
my system and the error is accompanied by the death of the O menu system
until I either kill it via taskmanager or reboot.
Help appreciated.

Hi Lew,

Thank you for your post.

Based on my experience, we can use the following steps to narrow down the
issue:

1. Update the antivirus software and scan to check if there is any virus on
the computer.

2. When the "a dialog box is open" message appear, please minimize the
current Outlook window and all other window to show the desktop, do you see
an opening dialog box?

3. Let's start Outlook in safe mode and do not perform any action in it,
will it prompt the "a dialog box is open" message?

- Click Start, and click Run.
- In the Open box, type: "outlook /safe" (without the quotation marks)
There is a space character between Outlook and the forward slash (/).
- Click OK.

4. Let's start the computer in safe mode and only open Outlook, will it
prompt the "a dialog box is open" message? If so, would you please give me
a screen shot of this message?

To make a screen shot:

a. Press the PrintScreen key on the keyboard at the right of the key F12.
b. Open Microsoft Word and press Ctrl+V.
c. Click File (menu) -> Save to save the file and send it to me.

Please let me know if this solves the problem or if you would like further
assistance.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Best Regards,
